“The most important attitude that can be found is the desire to go on learning” – John Dewey
Wednesdays of every month is a special day for our Dumagat Learners. Every Wednesday our two teachers, Michael Lauta and Mark Roxas, have to travel two hours from Novaliches to Norzaragay, Bulacan to teach our Dumagat Learners. Aside from Wednesdays, they have also classes every Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays under the care of their Tribal Teacher at the Punduhan.
“The first Wednesdays are not that easy, we have to get the trust of the Dumagats, good thing Bro.Martin Francisco is there to guide and give us tips on how to get along with them” Michael said
“But when we were able to get their trust, all the long hours of travel specially on rainy days are all worth it. The eagerness and the smile on their faces gave us the strength and the drive to continue what we have started” Mark added.
And because our learners are bonafide students of Metro Manila College, they are also required to attend their class at MMC once a month. Volunteers from Education Department under the supervision of the Community Extension Service Director, Mrs Glenda Ortiz, offered their time to teach our learners.
The excitement both the learners and volunteers are very obvious on their first day of school at MMC. They instantly bonded well
