Exactly a month after the Grand Launching event of Gawad Metronian Educational Foundation, Inc. [GMEFI], a post-launch evaluation was conducted among members of the Committee who got involved in the event. It was held last April 5 at 2 p.m. Part of the agenda was the showing of an AVP about GMEFI by its Vice-President Mirana Medina. Originally prepared for the Philippine Council for NGO Certification [PCNC], it is entitled “GMEFI’s BEING — Its Why Fors and Wherefores.” The presentation includes the historical background of Metro Manila College, and why the foundation was established, hence, a segment on MMC Founder Mamerto S. Miranda to show that what GMEFI is doing is his children’s way of extending his legacy to help provide education to academically deserving, poor and indigent children.
GMEFI’s goal, mission and vision; interviews with some of the Gawad Metronian scholars, and some of the activities during the GMEFI Launch are also included in the film. The presentation’s objective was to show the relationship between MMC and GMEFI; that the latter is a Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the College. Anchoring on MMC’s motto: “Your Mission, Our Future” is GMEFI’s own: “Building the Nation, One Student at a Time.”
MMC has been providing scholarships to poor students for many, many years but it was only last December 2014 that GMEFI was officially recognized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Many more legal requirements are required to run the foundation properly.
After the screening, the summary of the Evaluation by 42 respondents followed. Here is the result of the evaluation according to ranking: Programme, Student Volunteers, Light and Sound System, Registration, Venue, Food, Souvenir, and Guest/Attendance.
A report on the financial statement followed. An open forum ended the meeting which was held at the MMC Guest House Board Room.
