One of the programs of Gawad Metronian Educational Foundation, Inc. is to provide Community Educational Program Fund Assistance to recognized non-government groups or institutions. Last November 25, the first project proposal was approved for funding by GMEFI. The grantee is Autism Society Philippines [ASP], one of the most stable and active group that promotes and fights for the welfare of persons with autism. Their proposed project is considered pioneering as the final output can be used as model IEP, especially by special teachers in both public and private sped schools.
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between Cecile Sicam, Secretary and former president of ASP, and Dr. Evelyne Dominguez, GMEFI President, in support of ASP’s proposal entitled: Educational Assessment and Formulation of Individualized Educational Programs for Indigent children with Special Needs was held at the Guest House of Metro Manila College.
1] Increase the effectivity of special education intervention being given in public schools by providing a model for appropriate assessment and IEP formulation.
2] Improve the capability of public school special education teachers to assess and formulate Individualized Educational Programs and thereby implement appropriate interventions for their special needs students.
Project implementation will last for four months.
